About:

Manrique was introduced to Functional Fitness in 2009. Initially, he began CrossFit with the intent of improving his endurance for long distance events such as marathons and triathlons. Working full-time, going to school part time, weight training at a traditional gym, and training specifically for marathons and triathlons was consuming too much time.  Upon experiencing vast improvements in not just endurance, but also strength, speed, mobility, and overall level of fitness (with less overall time commitment) he became a firm believer and proponent of Functional Fitness and its ability to aggrandize general fitness, sport/event-specific fitness, and overall well-being. He changed his athletic pursuits from endurance sports to overall level of fitness - it took much less time, he got in better shape, and he felt better all around. 
Manrique served in the U.S. Army in various disciplines including: Infantry, Combat Medic, and Nurse. While in the military, he found that he thoroughly enjoyed being active: not only did he feel happier and healthier, but he felt more capable to take on more challenges. Working in Healthcare made him aware of the importance of maintaining a lifestyle that promotes health and well-being. Manrique prefers a “preventive medicine” approach to health – it is easier to prevent sickness/disease than it is to treat it. He has been coaching since the end of 2009 and programming for gyms and personal clients since 2010.

He has coached people of all ages, ability levels, and pursuits. He loves improving others’ lives through fitness and he looks forward to bringing his knowledge and energy to the athletes of RoloAthletics.
