5 Books to Read in 2020 to level up.
Written by our friend Reilly Kilbride
Fury Coach Reilly Kilbride is a CCFT-L3 trainer from Columbia, South Carolina.
My story is like so many others in the CrossFit community. CrossFit changed my life. I have always been a person with a lot of energy! When I was 18-20 years old I was putting that energy in to things that had no return on investment. I tried CrossFit and was instantly hooked! I was able to realign my energies into helping people and also helping myself.
Helping people is my passion. I feel at home on the coaching floor and that’s where I find peace. I have been helping athletes forge elite fitness for 5 years and plan on doing it for the rest of my life.
Want to live your most optimal existence?
Call me old school but I love books. I love learning new things. From training, sleeping, self-development, and even strange animal books (weird I know). The more that I learn, the more I can help people. These books have triggered an avalanche of introspection that have helped me grow in all aspects of life. If you want to be best version of you in 2020 give these read or listen.

This book will give you four “simple” rules to live by. Notice the quotes? Simple yes, but these rules will challenge you to confront a lot of your own bullshit. Be ready. Can you simplify your life with these rules? This book single handedly changed my life.
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
So, you think you’re an entrepreneur? Lace up your shoes tight as this book takes you through the journey Phil Knight embarked when he created Nike. The history of the company is a wild story that had a lot of ups and downs. In a world, full of IG visionaries, this book shows you the actions needed to create one of the biggest companies on the planet.
Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker PhD
What if I told you that you aren’t utilizing one of the best supplements on the market? As cliché as it sounds sleep is the best performance enhancing supplement on the market. Matthew Walker dives into everything about sleep. He answers questions like how much, how to improve, and how to enhance your current sleep. Game changer for health and wellness.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo
Are you struggling with what to do next with your life? The universe will continually test you on the road of your personal legend. You must confront adversity and fear on your way to your true destiny. Maktub. A classic book about finding your dream and following no matter what happens. I return to this book yearly to refocus and realign with what I want to do next in life.
Into the Fire by Dakota Meyer
How do you handle adversity? When everything is going wrong how do you respond? If you are Dakota Meyer, you head into the fire. An account of the most epic battles in the Afghanistan War in 2009. This book gave me chills but also an abundance of gratitude for all our members of the Armed Forces.
